Explanation of File Formats
- Original Scan TIF - Full resolution photo straight from the scanner, no modifications. Most photos were scanned at either 600 or 300 PPI.
- Retouched TIF - Full resolution photo with some minor cropping, lighting adjustments, scratches and blemishes touched up, etc. This file may contain layers (I used Photoshop Elements) and file size may be larger than the original TIF.
- Full Res JPG - Usually just a copy of the Retouched TIF but saved as JPG. File size will be much smaller than TIF (JPG uses compression). This one is a good general purpose file to download. It will be full resolution and will be good for printing and can always be reduced in size if desired.
- Normal Size JPG - Resized to 1024x768 (or close to that) and reduced to 150PPI so that it will fit nicely on a computer monitor, web page, or as an e-mail attachment while keeping the file size reasonable. This one won't be the best quality for printing but will look fine on the computer.
- Thumbnail JPG - Small file to use as a preview (as seen on the pages on this web site).
